



This appealing 167cm 7 year old Bay Stallion Z Wellie 72 combines the best of Holstein and KWPN breeding with a dash of thoroughbred blood very familiar to Irish Breeders.

Z. Wellie 72 is by Celano. Celano’s sire, the fantastic grey Capital I, is the sire of numerous International Showjumpers such as Concorde, Cartier, Calle and Curtis. Additionally he is the sire of the approved stallions Carthago Z, Carolus I and II, Cassini and Indoctro. Capital died in 1999 at 24 years of age. The damline of Capital I is one of the best in Holstein. Folia, the dam of Capital I, has unlimited jumping scope and is a daughter of the very successful ‘S’ jumping stallion Maximus and the Ramzes mare Vase. Vase is a full sister of the Showjumper Romanus who was very successful in ’60 with H. G. Winker. In 1993 the stallion Lord died at 26 years of age. A stallion who has made breeding histroy with offspring such as Livius, Lord Incipit, Loyal, Lugana etc. That Celano has inherited his scope, technique and balance with a fine character from these bloodlines speaks for itself.
Celano expresses tremendous scope, three good basic gaits and a fantastic character. In 1994 Celano was 4th at the Bundeschamionaat ridden by Rene Tebbel. In 1995 he was approved by the KWPN and received a very good performance test report. Celano, ridden by Rob Ehrens, has meanwhile many sporting performances. In 1998 he was near the top in the Dutch Championship in Hoofdorp and also, amongst his other successes, 6th in the Grand Prix at Champion Arnhem and 2nd in the Grand Prix at Leeuwarden. In 1999 he had several successes, among them, Beek, Mierlo, Zelham, Nunspeet and Hengelo. In Amsterdam he won the 1.50 mt and in 2000 he was the best stallion in Zwolle, 4th in the CHIO in Den Haag and 7th in the Grand Prix in Lummen. Zwolle 2001 he defended his title and was again hailed as Best Stallion 2001. In 2002 Celano participated in another two competitions, Rastede and Rotterdam, where he showed just how fantastic he is.

His dam, T Wellie 5 produced Z Wellie 72 as a 4 year old. She then commenced her showjumping career. She is now 8 years old and jumping at 1.40m level. The Dams Sire Germus R has an illustrious showjumping record and has a phenomenal history as a producer of jumpers. His most famous progeny include Balaboeska R who was the 6 year old Dutch Champion and was 7th in the world championships for young horses at Lanaken. Balaboeska was later brought out very successfully in the international sport by Jerome Dubbeldom and can currently be seen ridden by Bert Bles. The Germus R son Hildon Medoc 11 was reserve world champion as a 5 yr old showjumper and participated at Jerez at only 8yrs of age and later in the Olympic Games in Athens. Additional international showjumpers sired by Germus R include M Sinia(Lucas Unufri), Phoenix (Demencio Morosoli) Silvester(Willie Millinger) The
Real Deal(Stefan Breitenstein) .A Note worth mentioning in Germus R pedigree (Joost x Abjar) is that the very influential TB Stallion Abjar, whose sire Abernant is also the sire of the dam of the TB Stallion Skyboy.
Z Wellie 72 was presented for inspection in March 2008 and was classified S1 and was awarded performance testing. This year he will be presented for full approval.
His enormous scope together with super technique and carefulness has been proven by his performance, to date earning of in excess of 170 SJAI points and capturing the National 6/7 year old Show Jumping Championships at Coilog in August 2011!

He is currently being ridden by the well established Ger O'Neill from Kilkenny. Ger and Z Wellie 72 are attracting a lot of attention Irish breeders, with Wellie covering a variety of mares this year and last year, including several very established 'Clover Hill' mares and we await the birth of his foals with great interest.
